{FASHION NEWS} | Louis Vuitton Series 4

If, like anyone who appreciates fashion, you love Louis Vuitton; you might be familiar with the pictorial discourse between multiple artists that the brand uses in its Series. This began with Series 1 and now Series 4; the Spring/Summer 2016 advertising campaign is here.

Creative director Nicolas Ghesquière wanted to explore the different and many facets of a heroine. Series 4 is a trilogy of images all about the heroine, with each section echoing and recognizing the next and merging into a visual narrative all about her. The three story-tellers for this series are Juergen Teller; renowned German photographer, Bruce Weber; American fashion photographer and Square Enix; Japanese videogame and Manga creator.

The advertising campaign for the spring-summer 2016 collection will be unveiled in the January 2016 issue of magazines worldwide. It will also be accompanied by two films created by the campaign’s two photographers. Over the next 2 days I will be showcasing the pieces of Series 4 and the thought progression and inspiration behind it.

The Heroine by Juergen Teller

Featuring Louis Vuitton’s new Heroine, Korean actress Doona Bae, Juergen Teller shot these images in Miami, Florida. The beautiful blue sky helped to capture the silhouettes so that they seemed to levitate. I love the chunky heels with the soft pinks and the angles of the images.
Nicolas Ghesquière discovered Doona in the movie “The Host”. He was struck by her character and mysterious beauty. Nicolas says of her, “She radiates strength and an artistic sensibility that corresponds to the values of the Maison.”

I feel great whenever I wear Nicolas' collections. We’ve become friends over the years. He has this uncanny ability to draw inspiration from the past, interpret the present and invent the future. I am deeply touched by his work and his flair for detail. I also love the way he interprets women. He creates for independent, strong and daring women who, thanks to him, can express both delicate beauty and fatal charm,” explains Doona Bae.

Check back tomorrow as we put together the pieces of Series 4. I will show you and talk about Lightning: A Virtual Heroine and The Heroine by Bruce Weber.

Until next time

Love and Sparkles
