Last week I visited the 27Pinkx Beauty Bar in Centurion. If that name sounds a bit familiar to you it’s probably because you’ve read about 27Pinkx on the blog before. The brand was formed by 2 sisters, Khatija and Anjum, and it began with acrylic makeup storage that they designed and had manufactured. The brand has now grown into an online store where you can still buy the storage as well as their own brand of makeup brushes and tools alongside brands like Nudestix (they’re the only local official distributor), Beauty Blender and Gerard.

Obviously they didn’t stop with just the store. The latest addition to the 27Pinkx empire is the 27Pinkx Beauty Bar, a salon and spa that sits in the most enchanting, serene location. The beauty bar offers all the stuff you would expect from a salon (manis, pedis,massages, waxing, threading etc.), professional makeup and hair styling, laser hair removal and MATIS and IS CLINICAL facials.

The treatments are really superb. I had a salon manicure which (ZAR180) which lasted 45 minutes and included a soak, scrub, shape, file, hand massage and polish. I also had the Citrus Blast pedicure (ZAR380) which was absolutely delightful and fruity. My feet were soaked in a basin filled with lots of citrus slices and brightening vitamin C and antioxidants before they were scrubbed and massaged. There was also a citrus drink that accompanied the pedicure to enhance the whole experience. It was fruity fresh heaven and my feet have honestly never looked or felt better.

I also had an eyebrow wax (ZAR50). I’m really bad with pain and believe me when I say it was painless. The lady who did my wax was very patient and meticulous. She even managed to clean up my brows with wax only so no tweezers were involved (Yay!). The 27Pinkx Beauty Bar uses bush tea wax which is naturally hypo-allergenic. My skin felt totally fine afterwards and there was no redness.

The attention to detail is absolutely exceptional in everything at the 27Pinkx Beauty Bar. From the gigantic pedicure “thrones” to the bright pink accents, the indoor outdoor feel and the lovely staff; you will definitely feel like a queen. I won’t think twice about visiting again! I’m especially keen to try out the rose elixir pedicure next time.

{BEAUTY FAVOURITES} | Argan Oil

Argan Oil known as ‘liquid gold” is extracted from the kernels of the Argania spinosa or Argan tree which is found in Morocco. Although it is consumed as a gourmet food product, it is most well-known for its cosmetic properties and has become a cult ingredient in the beauty industry. It is highly moisturizing and is thus used to nourish the hair, skin and nails. It also contains, amongst other things, vitamin A, tocopherols and unsaturated fatty acids which gives it some anti-ageing properties.

There are many Argan based products available but my friends over at 27 Pinkx stock pure 100% organic Argan oil and they sent me a bottle for my birthday. It comes in a brown glass bottle with a dropper. The consistency is that of an oil and the colour is a light golden. Because it is untreated and unfragranced, the scent is light and ever so slightly nutty.

I have been using it over the past few months in the following ways and I am extremely delighted with the effects.

To Moisturize:

At night I use a few drops on cleansed face. For an oil, it absorbs quickly into my skin and doesn’t leave an oily residue. My skin feels so soft and conditioned by the morning and has been noticeably more glowing. I also mix a drop in when I am mixing up my under eye concealers before I apply to add extra moisture and glow to my under eye area. You can add a few drops to your night cream for a serum effect and even to some aqueous cream for a delightfully nourishing body moisturizer.

 Hair Treatment:

Prolonged use of the GHD makes my hair a tad unhappy. Once a week before bed I use a few drops of the oil on the ends of my hair and work it upwards. I wash my hair the next day. It really nourishes the hair and gives it incredible shine. You can also use a drop or 2 after styling for shine.

Lip Scrub:

I mix a drop of the oil with some sugar and use it to scrub my lips. It removes the flaky skin while moisturizing the lips. This really helps to give that smooth effect when creating a really matte lip.

Nails and Cuticles:

I have such issues with my dry cuticles and brittle nails. I started using the oil on my nails a few days ago and I am already feeling a difference. It also helps that the oil absorbs really quickly and doesn’t get everywhere from your nails.

There are many more uses for the oil, including the treatment of scars and stretch marks, as a bath oil and if you like that glow, you can use it to prep your skin before applying makeup.

I have used many Argan oil based products but after using the pure oil, I have become very spoilt. No product comes close.

{NEW IN} | 27Pinkx Blush, Bronzer and Highlighter Palette

I was given the Blush, Bronzer and Highlighter Palette by the 2Pinkx sisters Khatija and Anjum. As mentioned in a previous post about the brand, I had really wanted to try out this particular palette. If you’re unfamiliar about the 27Pinkx brand, read my post here.

The cheek palette (as I call it) has ten shades which were meticulously chosen by the sisters. There are three shimmer bronzers, a matte bronzer (perfect for contouring), a pearly highlighter and five different blush shades. The shades of the matte bronzer and highlighter are quite reminiscent of the Tom Ford shade and illuminate palette that I was lusting after although these are in powder form. The blushes come in shades of peach and pink and the shimmer bronzers range from rose gold to pure gold.

The formulas of all the shades are quite powdery and they glide on to the cheek comfortably. They look quite pigmented but don’t deposit a lot of colour on the first swipe. They are quite buildable though, so you can decide how much colour and shimmer you want and apply accordingly. The application lasted around 4 hours.  I am wearing the matte bronzer under my cheekbones and the first bronzer shade on my cheeks in the selfie I took yesterday.

If you like experimenting with your cheekbones, this is the perfect palette for you. I must also mention that often I have trouble finding bronzers that suit my skin-tone and I was quite content with how these looked on my skin. I really love the packaging too! It’s chic and classy.
