{NEW IN} | Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Trio

Part of Urban Decay’s new holiday drops is the dreamy and sublime Naked Illuminated Trio. This little palette contains three new shades of Urban Decay’s iconic Naked Illuminated shimmering powder. I love strobing, highlighters and shimmery makeup; glazed donut cheekbones are my life goal, so you can just imagine my delight when this one landed in my hands!

Naked Illuminated is basically a shimmer powder for the face and body. The product contains microfine, light reflecting iridescent particles that give your skin a radiant, luminous look.

The actual palette and packaging is really pretty. It is illustrated throughout with a soft long exposure image of coloured lights (or maybe sparklers?) and contains a large mirror. I do, however, miss the glittery packaging of the original Naked Illuminated boxes. The palette also contains a soft double ended face brush.

The three shimmering powders weigh 250g and are a baked formula. Urban Decay’s baking process ensures intense colour payoff, high shimmer and a soft, silky feel. On touch, the powders feel particularly smooth and blend incredibly well. I sometimes layer and blend them together for a different look.

You can use them to highlight your cheekbones or even on your body. I love using a little shimmer on my shoulders and collarbones sometimes. Naked Illuminated is really comfortable once worn on the skin. You truly feel “Naked”.  

I’ve worn all the colours separately and I’ve blended them together on a few separate occasions and the wear is really good. Between the three shades, the sheen only begins to wear off between 6 and 7 hours.

Pyrite is a deep champagne gold shade with gold micro-shimmer. Once applied it leaves a lovely warm glow on the skin and adds tons of radiance.

Oasis is a beautifully marbled taupe shade in the palette but once swatched and applied it shows as a delicate fawn with fine silver sparkles. It is slightly sheer once blended but provides a lovely subtle twinkle.

Twilight is a gorgeous, soft lustrous pink. It contains warm, peachy pink shimmer but I’ve also noticed a slight hint of iridescent sparkle once applied.

All the shades are really lovely and for once I can’t quite pick a favourite! I’m hopelessly in love with this palette!

Urban Decay’s Naked Illuminated Trio retails for ZAR650. I think this is an absolute steal for THREE shimmer powders!

{BEAUTY NEWS} | #UDEastgate + Urban Decay New In

Hi beauties! In case you haven’t heard (HOW HAVE YOU NOT HEARD?!?!), Urban Decay will be opening their second South African store Eastgate Mall! The store will be opening this Friday, 25 November 2016, and it will be a mystical makeup wonderland inside Foschini. I’ve also heard whispers that there will be some Black Friday treats on opening so I really don’t think you want to miss this one.

Along with the new store, Urban Decay will be dropping a whole bunch of new stuff this week. I have been waiting super patiently for almost all of these babies and I’m sure you have too!

I’ll be taking you through each one today so you can get acquainted and inform your private banker ;)

Vice Lipstick Vintage Capsule Collection

It’s Urban Decay’s 20^th anniversary and to celebrate the makeup house is going way, way back and pulling out 9 vintage shades from their original lip squad. Urban decay has always got it so right with the names of their lipstick and with Roach (a deep brown), Oil Slick (sheer black and silver) and Frostbite (a deep blue with multi-faceted glitter pigments) there is no doubt that the brand has always been at the height of edgy. The shades are unique and completely wearable. Each lipstick is also housed in a limited edition throwback tube and will set you back only ZAR250 a pop! I have my eye on Asphyxia and UV-B and I know this collection will sell out swiftly so do not sleep on this one!

Liquid Moondust Eyeshadow

Moondust is Urban Decay’s very own formulation that blends together microfine bits of iridescent sparkle and 3-D metallics to create the sparkliest shadow on Earth. Liquid Moondust is the same innovative formula in an emulsion. The 8 shades are ridiculously pigmented and have great wear. The shadow dries almost instantly, once applied, and is extremely comfortable on the eye. Liquid Moondust is really buildable and you can use it to create a subtle or dramatic eye or even use the precision applicator to line your eyes with a hint of sparkle.

Vice Lipstick Palette in Blackmail

There’s nothing that’s better than a Vice Lipstick… Except 12 Vice lipsticks! This palette contains a dozen unique lipstick shades in all 6 Vice finishes. There’s everything from soft to bright pinks, fierce reds, berries, glitter and metallic and of course the nudes. The palette itself is absolutely beautiful to behold and also contains a lip brush. I’d recommend this one if you travel a lot and just HAVE to take a lipstick in every shade (AKA me) or just because!

Full Spectrum Eyeshadow Palette

Full Spectrum is the new sibling in Urban Decay’s iconic palette family. Housed in chic and elegant packaging, Full Spectrum contains 21 shades ranging from deep, bright mattes to lustrous shimmers. If you love experimenting then this kaleidoscopic limited edition baby is just for you. 18 of the 21 shades are brand new and it also contains 2 shades (Hatter and Metamorphosis) from the very, very limited edition Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland palette. If you, like the rest of us, missed out on the Urban Spectrum palette, you WILL want this. It goes for ZAR999 and is available in very limited quantities.

Naked Illuminated Trio

Saving my favourite one for last is the Naked Illuminated Trio. This palette contains three new shades of Urban Decay’s iconic Naked illuminated shimmering face and body powder. I don’t want to say too much, because I’m going to be treating you to a full review later in the week, but I will say that this trio is just as dreamy as it sounds. The three shades (Pyrite, Oasis and Twilight) are everything you’d hope for in a highlighter; a champagne-gold, a sublime marbled taupe shade and a beautiful shimmering soft pink. It also comes with a double ended brush and will sell at ZAR650.

RiRi ♥ M.A.C | The Holiday Collection

Rihanna’s latest collection for MAC Cosmetics is made up of the unique formulations and textures MAC is famous for; in colours that our girl RiRi has personally worked on all encased in the most beautiful rose-gold and pearl-white packaging. What more can a girl ask for?

The collection sees the famous RiRi Woo matte lipstick (ZAR210) returning as well as 2 new matte colours: Pleasurebomb and Bad Girl RiRi. There is also a RiRi Woo nail polish(ZAR150) which is a cool matte red, Veluxe Pearlfusion eye-shadow palettes(ZAR400) in Phresh Out and 2X Dare, frost Superslick Eyeliners(ZAR250) in Pisces Persuasion, shimmery white,and Cockiness, shimmery rose gold, and a bronzing powder(ZAR400) in Love Rihanna which is shimmery brown with a gold pearl effect. You can use the beautiful rose-gold and pearl white double ended brush (ZAR300) to apply your makeup and store it all in a quilted rose-gold RiRi ♥ M.A.C makeup bag (ZAR500).

The collection went on sale on Tuesday (10 December) on the South African online store (www.maccosmetics.co.za) and I bought myself the Pleasurebomb lipstick. It is a lovely matte, fuchsia colour and I think it will suit most skintones. The texture, although matte is quite creamy and it’s really long lasting. It’s quite similar in shade (although brighter) to MAC’s Impassioned Amplified lipstick. Rihanna posted a photo on Instagram, noting that she had the sample for Pleasurebomb in 2012! Clearly a lot of time, thought and effort has been put into this collection by both Rihanna and MAC.

Pleasurebomb and most of the RiRi ♥ M.A.C Holiday Collection was sold out on the MAC South Africa online store within 48 hours. I was pretty disappointed as I wanted the Bad Girl RiRi lipstick and the Love, Rihanna bronzer, but do not despair, it will be available in MAC standalone(Melrose Arch, Rosebank and V&A Waterfront) stores on January 4^th 2014. I do predict that it will be highly popular so get your butt there early so you’re not disappointed. If you know me at all, you will know that I am not above crying in a MAC store if they’re out of a limited edition item ;)
