{OOTD} | MUSE//MEWs

Hooded Top – Shop Brett Robson | Jeans – H&M | Boots – Timeless Shoes (Gift) | Sunglasses – Primark

The hysteria of Pokémon Go was at its peak when I was in the UK and I spent a great amount of time hunting and catching with my brothers. It was loads of fun, of course, and we also managed to see and identify loads more monuments and landmarks than we would have without the game. The downside was that we didn’t have power banks or portable chargers so our adventures were short lived.

Honestly when Pokémon Go was announced all that time ago I really didn’t think it would take on this well. I’ve always loved Pokémon, it is a warm and safe place for me and it’s something I can share with my brothers despite the mega age gap.

If you’re a regular reader you’ve probably seen my previous Pokémon themed posts. If not you can have a look here and here.

This is a very casual outfit and for running around (and catching Pokémon) I’d probably switch out the boots with sneakers. The hooded top is another winner designed by friend Brett. There’s tons of gorgeous stuff in her store right now so best you have a look. ;)

The lipstick is Urban Decay Vice in Violate. I am OBSESSED with these lipsticks. More on that soon though!

Now, best I’d get going. Jigglypuff is trying to alert me of the Mew (MEWS/MUSE haha!) that’s lurking about.

Denim // Velvet // Tulle

Dress – Thrift Store | Tulle Underskirt – Custom | Shoes – Call It Spring | Velvet Jacket – Custom | Glasses – Prada

Today I’m sharing an outfit I wore a while back to SA Fashion Week. I know, I know; that was ages ago but the truth is that I somehow lost these photos and I found them over the weekend. I was very determined not to spend money on anything new for Fashion Week this year so I “shopped” in my closet and this is what I came up with.

I got this lovely dress at a thrift store four years ago. The jewelled denim top and tulle bottom caught my eye and I had to have it. In my impulsiveness I didn’t realize that the skirt was high waisted and way too short. I really couldn’t part with it though and it took me four years to come up with the brilliant idea of layering it with another tulle underskirt.

The velvet jacket was sewn for me using the design of the jacket from a suit my Mom wore in her 20s. I have that suit too now and I’ll definitely wear the original soon. I love to wear different textures together and the soft velvet made the perfect outerwear for the denim and tulle dress.

Chic heels, my oversized Prada tortoiseshells and a coat of MAC’s Ruby Woo finished off the look.

I am becoming more inclined to make use of what I already have in my closet than to buy new things. It’s always great to come up with new, distinctive combinations.

{OOTD} | Don’t War. Do Fashion

T-Shirt – ZARA | Coat – Second-Hand Store | Jeans – ZARA | Heels –Legit | Glasses – Dior

The world looks like a mess today. War is tearing through the Middle East, terrorism is a very real and frightening threat and presidential candidates are basing their entire campaigns on fear and hate.

Pop culture also seems to be telling us not to get along. Batman vs. Superman, Kanye vs. Taylor (and Deadmau5 and and and…), Tony Stark vs. Captain America.

In fashion though, I find creativity, diversity, art and love and it gives me hope.

About This Outfit:

This is my “lucky coat” because I found it at a second-hand store and it fitted me like a glove. I couldn’t wait for the very first slightly cold day so I could wear it!

In this outfit I wore it with bootleg jeans, a statement tee and black lace up heels. I think this is going to be a base for my signature look throughout fall.

{OOTD} | Ballin’

T-shirt – Stylistique Designs | Jeans – Religion Clothing | Shoes – Iron Fist (old) | Necklace – MSC Boutique (Old, store closed) | Bag – Zando | Middle Eastern Bracelet – Oriental Plaza | Bangles – Vintage | Spiral Ring – Swarovski | Sunglasses – Thrift Store

Hello lovelies! Today I am sharing a look I put together with a t-shirt the lovely Jacqueline from Stylistique Designs gifted to me. She told me to pick a tee from her collection and then she chose an extra one for me. This is the tee that she chose for me and I’m really surprised and humbled because we barely knew each other but she made the perfect choice! There are some super awesome designs in Stylistique Designs’ collection and you can get them on a sweater, vest, t-shirt or hoodie. They also do the most amazing pillowcases and cushions too!

If you know me you know that I love my city. Heck, just my blog’s name will tell you that. Every day I discover new reasons to love living here despite the crime (it’s really bad, but you have to be vigilant and take steps to keep yourself safe… also there are other dangerous cities out there) and the dry Highveld climate (nothing that can’t be fixed with a humidifier and some good hair-care and skincare products). I originally just wanted to shoot these photos in my backyard but Shuaib dragged me out. He says that i have to show off my city on the blog. We shot these in Rosebank near the Gautrain station. It is fast becoming one of my favourite shopping spots and I love coming to the Zone for coffee, movies and fro-yo.

I decided to keep the look monochrome with a slight edge. I love to dress in a simple but edgy way and a pair of statement heels and some jewellery is all you need to go from comfy to chic. I also added some Kelly Yum Yum lipstick to the mix. I love the bright pink and the lipstick feels amazing on.

{OOTD} | Buttered Popcorn

Jeans (Charlie Super Skinny) – Lucky Brand | Oversized Jumper – Self Service @ The Lot | Shoes – ALDO | Sunglasses – Old | Blue Ring – Vintage (My Gran’s) | Rose Ring – Old | Necklace – Topshop

I woke up to the news of adored actor Robin Williams’ passing away this morning and I had to wear something bright to pick up my mood. As a young child I loved him as the genie in Disney’s Aladdin. I had the movie on video (yes, video haha) and every time someone was mean to me at school I would come home and watch it and genie’s hilarious dialogue and shenanigans would lift my spirits right up. As I grew older I began to appreciate him more as an actor. I loved Mrs Doubtfire! My Mom introduced me to Good Will Hunting and Dead Poets Society when I was older and more recently I really appreciated his work in The Crazy Ones.

It’s so upsetting to think that someone that added so much laughter and happiness to so many lives could have been so depressed. Depression is an illness not a weakness and I hope that we can all learn from this. Even the strongest, funniest person can be battling the ugliest demons. Be kind and peaceful and do all things with a pure heart.

I love this sweater from the lot. It’s gigantic and warm and also very 90s chic. These Lucky Brand jeans literally feel like pyjamas. If you haven’t tried on a pair you really have been missing out. I added these crazy, quirky sunnies that my Dad bought me years ago when we went to visit Galleria mall which just opened. He probably thought I was nuts or that I wanted them as a joke but I have worn and loved them everywhere from Cape Town to Mauritius to Dubai! Some Girl About Town lipstick and a pair of yellow heels finished off the look. The yellow accents reminded me of buttered popcorn. Perhaps I’ll make some now ;)
